|3 small||red onions, in wedges|
|6 tbsp||unsalted butter, melted|
Preheat oven to 425F.
Rinse turkey, pat dry. Sprinkle turkey with salt and pepper. Stuff turkey with oranges, 1 onion and bay leaves. Use a skewer and tie the drumsticks together to close the body.
Put turkey on a rack and roast in the middle of the oven for 30 minutes.
Reduce temperature to 350F. Brush the turkey with the remaining butter, and roast for 30 minutes.
Toss the remaining onions with 2 tbsp butter. Baste the turkey and scatter the buttered onion wedges.
Baste turkey every 30 minutes, until the turkey's temperature reaches 170F, about 2.5-3 hours total.
Transfer turkey to a platter and let sit for 25-30 minutes, temperature will rise to 180F.
