Wonton Party Bites Recipe


3 tbspvegetable oil
1 tbsptoasted sesame oil
2 filletsskinless chicken breast, finely chopped (~300g)
4green onions, trimmed & thinly sliced
2 carrotspeeled & coarsely grated
1 largeturai, coarsely grated
150gbean sprouts
220gwater chestnuts, drained & coarsely chopped
220gbamboo shoots, drained & coarsely chopped
2 tbspsoy sauce
1 tbspdry sherry
6 sheetfilo pastry


  1. In a large frying pan at moderate flame heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil along with sesame oil. Add chicken to the pan and fry till chicken is cooked through by stirring continuously for about 5 minutes.
  2. Now add onions, turai and carrots and mix well by stirring. Reduce the flame to low, cover the pan and cook for about 4 minutes while occasionally stirring the mixture.
  3. Uncover the pan and add bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts and cook for another 5 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  4. As per your taste add soya sauce and sherry along with seasonings. Now take the pan off the gas.
  5. Take stuff wonton paper or filo pastry and cut wrapper or pastry in 3 strips width wise. Place 18 such strips in a stack. The 1st strip should be placed length wise and pour 1 tbsp of chicken filling along the end of the wrapper closest to you. Now fold the edges of the wrapper over the filling and then roll the full wrapper. To seal the wrapper shut lightly oil the end. Now put the roll seam side on a baking sheet and brush oil all over it. Repeat the procedure for remaining strips.
  6. Heat oil in karahi (wok) on high heat and fry 2 rolls at the same time till the color turns golden brown.
  7. Transfer the rolls on a wire rack and allow them to cool down slightly before serving.
