Oyster Pie Recipe


2potatoes, diced
1 stalkcelery, chopped
1carrot, sliced (optional)
1 pintoysters
1/2 cupmilk, heated
1recipe pastry, recipe follows
1egg, mixed with 1 tbsp water


  1. Parboil potatoes, celery and carrot until fork-tender.
  2. Drain and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat oven to 375F.
  4. Layer vegetables and oysters in baking pan.
  5. Dot top with butter; pour heated milk over.
  6. Cover with pastry.
  7. Paint with egg wash.
  8. Make a few small slashes in the pastry for the steam to escape. Bake for 35 minutes, until crust is golden brown.
