Old World Vegetable Soup Recipe

Warm right up with this vegetable soup!

1large onion, finely diced
4 tbspoil (or unsalted butter)
1/2 cupsplit peas
1/2 cupbarley
8 cupschicken stock, wtaer
4 cupswater
3/4 cupelbow pasta
10 ozfrozen lima beans (1 package)
10 ozfrozen mixed garden vegetables (1 package)
1/4 cupdill leaves, roughly chopped


  1. Saute the onions in oil until lightly browned.
  2. Rinse the split peas and barley in water and place in a large pot. Add the chicken stock and water and cook over medium-high heat. until almost tender, about 1 hour.
  3. Add the pasta and cook 10 minutes longer.
  4. Then add the lima beans and vegetables, cook until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Season with dill, salt and pepper.
