Orange Chicken Recipe

A quick, reduced fat recipe that tastes great alongside vegetables and/or rice.


4unskinned chicken breasts, sliced
1/2 orangerind without white part, sliced
3green onions, chopped (white part for cooking, green part for garnish)
3 clovesgarlic, minced
red pepper flakes
olive oil
black pepper to taste
sprinklingsesame seeds
2 tbspsoy sauce
2 tbspsugar
1.5 tbspcornstarch
3/4 cupwater or chicken broth (low-sodium)
1 tbspvinegar


  1. In a large skillet, heat oil and fry garlic, white part of green onion, orange rinds and chili pepper flakes until fragrant.
  2. Add chicken and brown.
  3. When chicken is tender with a nice brown coat, add sauce mixture and allow to bubble and thicken (happens almost immediately).
  4. Allow to darken in color as sugar caramelizes, then remove from heat.
  5. Sprinkle with remaining green onion and sesame seeds and serve over steamed rice.
