200g | yellow (or orange) lentils, skinned and split |
1 inch | fresh ginger, peeled and cut into thin strips powder |
salt, to taste | |

2 cloves | garlic, peeled and cut into five large pieces |
3 | green chilis, left whole (optional) |
¾ tsp | turmeric |

1½ tbsp | butter (or vegetable oil) |
