Simple Hummus Recipe


Once the chickpeas are cooked and ready to blend, this recipe takes no time at all! You can save time by purchasing canned chickpeas.

Ingredients

5 clovesgarlic, roasted
1 cupdried chickpeas, soaked in 2-3 cups water for minimum 8 hours
2.5 tbsptahini
3 tsplemon juice
1/8 cupolive oil
1 tsppaprika
1/2 tspsalt
1/4 cupwater

Preparation

  1. Drain the water from chickpeas.
  2. Pour 3 cups of fresh water in a pot and bring to a boil. Add the chickpeas, cover the pot, and simmer on low heat for about 2 hours.
  3. While chickpeas are cooking, prepare garlic cloves by roasting and mincing them,
  4. Drain chickpeas and put 1/4 cup in blender with some of the 1/4 of minced garlic cloves. Blend them well then put in bowl. Continue this process until all the chickpeas and garlic cloves are blended.
  5. Mix in the tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, paprika, and salt. Mash up any inconsistencies in mixture while mixing so the hummus has a smooth consistency. Add water as necessary to thin the mixture, but not too much.
