1/4 cup (50 mL) | butter or margarine |
1/4 cup (50 mL) | all purpose flour |
3 cups (750 mL) | warm 1% milk |
3 cups (750 mL) | shredded old Cheddar cheese* |
1 | Cook macaroni according to package directions. |
2 | Melt butter in a pot set over medium heat. Add flour; cook, stirring, for 3 to 4 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk; cook, stirring constantly, until just thickened. |
3 | Season to taste with salt. Remove from heat; stir in cheese until melted. |
4 | Add hot macaroni and toss until pasta is coated. |
